But we ignore the struggles when our society disqualifies us because of the color of our skin. We work harder. Because hardship sometimes blurs our eyes to the prize of the achievements of self-reliance and pride. Because we’ve earned it, we’re determined to succeed, knowing that that’s the only right road.
Our country forgets that we are also the women who make a difference.
We are contributors to our country’s GDP. The faces of caregivers, servers, and retail clerks—the low-income spectrum of the labor force dominated by women.
